Back to School Success Strategy!
By Dr. Robert DeMaria

Hello! This is Dr. Bob with another
Healthy Living Tip for You!

This is the time of year when moms with children of all ages send their pride and joy off to school. There are children who are heading out for the first time while others are beginning a new level; first grade to elementary and/or junior to senior high school. Some are even sending their children off to their freshmen year of college. The dream and passion of parents of all children is the goal of great scholastic achievement. So how do you assist your child in getting ready for another school year?

Strive to provide the best environment and possibilities for your child—regardless of their age. The real key is getting to the basics. I have described a plan in great detail in Dr. Bob’s Guide to Stop ADHD in 18 Days”. The fuel you provide your child first thing in the morning has a huge impact on their blood sugar all day long. Starting the day off with a pastry or breakfast cereal creates a blood sugar roller coaster of highs and lows. Children will have a reduced attention span when their blood sugar cycles up and down throughout the day; sleepy periods during the mid morning and afternoon has the potential to torpedo even the best of students. The best advice I can give is to provide a protein based breakfast including eggs with veggies, quinoa with almonds, veggies with protein (I use Applegate turkey or chicken).

Feed the brain and body with the right oil. The brain craves an adequate quality source of oil to fuel the entire cortex. I encourage our patients to use up to one tablespoon of Organic Omega Nutrition High Lignan Flax Oil at one tablespoon per one hundred pounds. There is a long chained metabolized from flax oil called DHA which is critical for long term brain and behavioral health. Individuals of all ages will appreciated the improved brain function by adding liquid gold or flax oil to one’s diet.
